Valerie H. Hunt (Ph.D., University of Arkansas 2004, J.D. University of Arkansas School of Law 1999) also serves as the Associate Director of the Public Policy Ph.D. program within UA’s Graduate School and International Education. Her research focuses on issues of discrimination, intersectionality and policy analysis, institutional transformation, and community development and empowerment.
Her work has appeared in several journals including Race, Class, & Gender, Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare, American Indian Quarterly, and the Arkansas Law Review. Her book, Capturing the Breadth and Depth of Human Experiences: Incorporating Intersectionality in Social Work Practice, Research, Policy, and Education, coauthored with Professors Yvette Murphy, Anna Zajicek, Adele Norris, and Leah Hamilton, was published by the National Association of Social Work Press in 2009.
